Navigate directions and distances
Direction Sense questions test your ability to track movements across compass directions and calculate final positions, distances, and directions.
Direction Sense questions describe a person's journey through various turns and distances. You must track the movements on a mental or drawn map to determine the final position, distance from the starting point, or the direction faced.
Direction Sense is a scoring topic in reasoning because it follows clear rules. With proper technique (drawing diagrams), you can solve these questions with 100% accuracy.
1.ALWAYS draw the diagram — don't try to solve mentally
2.Remember: sunrise = East, sunset = West for shadow questions
3.Use the formula: displacement² = horizontal² + vertical²
They mean the same thing. If facing North and you turn left, you now face West.
